About Melissa
Alongside her work as a colourist, Melissa Trottier maintains a second, deeply rooted passion: teaching yoga, fitness, and Pilates. For her, movement is both a counterbalance and a complement to long hours of focused, sedentary creative work—a way to stay connected, present, and physically grounded.
Melissa came to yoga through movement in the early 2000s in Montreal, but it was years later in Whistler that the practice fully took shape. The balance between strength and softness, the mental quiet, and the sense of intentional living became central to how she moves through the world—on and off the mat.
She is a certified Hatha-Vinyasa and Pilates teacher who emphasizes patience, presence, and kindness. Her classes focus on thoughtful, flowing movement while also creating space for internal awareness. She believes meaningful practice supports not just the body, but the way people show up in their everyday lives.
Teaching allows Melissa to share what her own teachers generously offered her: more than technique, a reminder to slow down, soften, and approach movement—and life—with curiosity and care. For fitness and Pilates, the focus shifts to energy and momentum—having fun, breaking a sweat, letting go of what no longer serves you, and building strength that supports everyday life.
Outside the studio, she stays creatively energized through photography and colour work, tending to her plants, spending time with her fluffy sidekick, and taking joyrides on her motorcycle.
